” A FISH TALE ” THE ALAN BARNES ALL STAR OCTET

 This is the amazing story in music & verse of the bravery of the men & families in the Fishing Industry

in world war 2.. This is a tribute to the contribution made by those in the fishing industry who were

instrumental in feeding the nation & protecting it in times of war

Fact’s —- At the outbreak of world war 2 – Grimsby had 400 trawlers– 200 were converted to minesweepers

200 trawlers carried on fishing in mine infested waters of the North Sea..

In that area of the North Sea there were 16000 mines ———- 14500 men lost their lives.

Mark Nightingale  trombone . The UK’s number one & multi award winner for trombone..

Pat McCarthy guitar . .& great composer — shared the dot’s with Alan on this story..

Dave Green double bass — I repeat myself — 2 words go together Dave Green & World Class

John Perry percussion. Internationally famed drummer in many genre’s

In this band we have six new names to the audience of The FJC .

Most of you will have seen the internationally renowned saxophonist Gilad Atzmon..

Dean Masser & Neil Yates are the Manchester based Jazz Worriers ..

This is part of a nationwide tour supported by the arts council of Great Britain
