The FHODS Youth Section has been an integral part of Folkestone-Hythe Operatic and Dramatic Society (FHODS) for over 50 years, helping to continually develop and entertain new generations of actors, directors, singers and production teams.

We’re proud that many of our past Youth Section members have gone on to have successful professional careers in the theatre and arts.

The group is open to 12-18 year olds who are interested in any aspect of the theatre, not just acting, and meet at the Tower Theatre most Sundays from 6pm-8.30pm. Many evenings are run as specific workshops, hosted by an adult member who has a key artistic role in the society (such as director, actor or musical director).

As well as supporting the adult society in many large-scale productions, such as Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, and summer musicals and pantomimes, the Youth Section also put on their own plays every year. Recent shows include Charlie and the Chocolate factory, The Insect Play, Carpe Jugulum, Little Women, Alice in Wonderland, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Goldilocks on Trial and Bugsy Malone.

In 2018, FHODS Youth Section was proud to host the first production of Kilmainham Kids to be directed by the play’s author, Paul Sherman.
